Review: OnSong app for iOS

I’m not really one for doing reviews of products but this is really something that has changed they way I do, what I do!
OnSong is an app for iPad and iPhone that stores, displays and organises chord charts as used by musicians and singers in various live music situations. But its much more than that- its a total solution for organising sets for services and distributing what your playing to the rest of the band.
When you start OnSong up for the first time, you might notice that there are not any songs preloaded. This is in part due to licensing issues- you can however find sources all over the internet, of faithfully transcribed chord charts for the songs you know and sing. You can of course type in songs yourself.
One of the strongest features of OnSong is that you can change the look and feel of everything that is displayed on the screen...including the musical key!!
For anyone else in your team or band rocking an iPad or iPhone, you can instantly share you ‘set’ of songs in the key and order that you want them in.
For the traditionalists, you can load in your PDF score and effortlessly scroll through. A feature called ‘sticky notes’ allows you to add comments and effectively annotate your chart.
It’s not possible in this short review to include ALL of the features.. why.. because the options seem endless. A quick glance down the settings page reveal the complexity of design. Personally, I favour seeing white text on a black background- but whatever works for you!
